What is GEPCO Sanctioned Load?
Sanctioned Load (measured in Kilowatts - kW) represents the maximum electrical power capacity allocated to your connection by GEPCO. You can check your sanctioned load on your printed bill or via our GEPCO Online Bill Checker.
Why You Should Apply for Load Extension
If your connected electrical load (e.g. running 3 Inverter ACs + Water Pump) exceeds your official sanctioned load (e.g. 1 kW or 2 kW), GEPCO may issue unauthorized load surcharges, or your service drop wire and meter could burn out. Furthermore, 3-phase solar net metering requires a minimum sanctioned load limit (see GEPCO Solar Net Metering Guide).
Step-by-Step Load Extension Application Process
- Obtain Load Extension Application Form: Download or collect the form from your local SDO office.
- Submit Wiring Test Report: Attach a certified Electrical Wiring Test Report prepared by an authorized electric contractor.
- Pay Demand Notice Fee: GEPCO issues a Demand Notice for additional security deposit and capital cost corresponding to the extra kW load requested.
- Meter / Service Upgrade: If extending from single-phase to 3-phase, GEPCO installs a 3-phase digital meter.
